I’m an not traditionally a maker. University taught me the sums of a program. Since then I have designed & built for a few clients, yet I hadn't given myself a chance to create something with no constraints and no pressure to be ‘safe’.
This is the result a chair built for myself by myself.
Understanding CAD allowed me to design something complex. Making taught me that materials don't always perform as intended. In this way, the making made the chair.
The complex angular frame is compound cut, not constrained by structural rules. A first attempt at compound curvature, the plywoods soft curves compliment the angular frame which are pinned together with turned maple plugs.
